physician coaching process, physician leadership training Physician Work-Life Balance, Physician Well-Being

The Balanced Physician Program is designed to
make measurable improvements
in stress control and personal performance of physicians' lives.

Our research and experience clearly shows that overwhelm, lack of priorities, poor communications, and insufficient leadership qualities (which are learned skills) contribute to physicians' stress, burnout and frustrations.

Think of the last time you felt frustrated; was it

  • with the performance in your practice because of trouble communicating with one another,
  • personality conflicts, or
  • an uncooperative, disruptive colleague?

Or are you frustrated because you feel like life has spun out of your control and is heading toward a black hole?
It happens all the time - and you are not alone.

Our mission is to provide the tools to build the stress resiliency, job/life fulfillment and performance of physicians. The key is learning new techniques and practicing effective skills to get different (better) results.

To help you and your staff maximize your productivity, job fulfillment, and quality of life, we deliver training, consulting, and coaching focused on:

  • Gaining Control of Stress
  • Systemizing Procedures and Routines that Work Most Effectively
  • Increasing Ability to Leverage Your Time
  • Creating and Leading a Highly Motivated Support Team
  • Establishing Clear Communication
  • Coaching and Teaching Coaching Skills for Maximum Engagement in Work and Life
Dr. M. - a physician in his early 40's - was bothered by the fact that his revenue has been declining. But being in the trenches all the time was the reason that he never really looked at his didn't allow him to take time to strategize a new business plan.

For 3 months we met 3 times / month and talked about his practice vision. Together with his office manager we analyzed his expenses and developed a plan to maximize his and his staff performance.

We also looked at passive revenue income and I am happy to report that he decreased his expenses by approximately 15% and increased his revenue by 20% within a 6 month period. Not bad for 2 months of intense strategic planning. A good plan is half the action!

Here is how we work together....

Step 1: Preliminary Consultation

In the preliminary consultation we want to hear and learn from you:

  • What do you want?
What situation / problem / challenge are you currently dealing with?
What is the improvement you are looking for and what seems to be in your way?
  • What will that get you?
When you accomplish this improvement, how will this affect your practice / life?
  • What are you willing to do to get there?
How critical is your current situation and w
hat are you willing to change and do differently?
  • How will you know when you have arrived?
How will we measure progress toward your goals?
What does success look like for you?

This consultation is packed with value to:

  • Generates awareness of your unique situation in order to articulate a list of discrete improvements and a clear understanding of the corresponding benefits of taking action
  • Answer questions about the process and partnership
  • Determine the applicability of the collaborative effort as it pertains to your success
  • Explore possibilities for concentration through personal assessment overview.

When you have clear answers to these questions and we are both clear how the Balanced Physician Program can help, we move on to step two.

Step 2: Assessment

Physicians need medical history and general information about their patients in order to diagnose and prescribe appropriately. We, too, are dependant on an evaluation and history of performance. Therefore we will lead you through an assessment process that will help us define your situation more clearly and customize the program to fit your needs.

Step 3: Strategic Session

Our first meeting will be a three-hour conversation focused on:

  • Clarifying the desired areas for improvement
  • Introducing coaching concepts
  • Debriefing the assessments, and
  • Beginning the Balanced Physician process

Step 4: Progress Sessions

Based on the information from the assessments and the intake evaluation we customize the Balanced Physician Program to fit your specific needs.
We will estimate the length and intensity of the program, which can range from 2-3 appointments a week for 3-12 months.
